Though there are no exact figures for the ecotourism segment， a government-sponsored push for rural tourism —— usually involving staying with farmers —— has become popular in China in recent years.

雖然生態旅游方面還沒有確切的統計數據，不過近年來由政府資助推出的鄉村旅游項目(通常被稱為“農家樂”)卻已在中國廣受歡迎。

上面的報道中，ecotourism就是近幾年經常被提及的一種旅游形式“生態旅游”，其實就是ecological和tourism兩個詞結合而成的，類似的用法還有eco city(生態城市)，eco-farming(生態農業)等。另外，這里還提到了rural tourism “鄉村旅游”，算是ecotourism的一個初步形式吧。其他常見的旅游形式還有：package tour(背包游)，DIY tour(自助游)，group/organized tour(團體游)，medical tour(醫療旅游)等。
